LMS System: Blackboard and Moodle
LMS (learning management system) is a part of online education which provides classroom learning such as, activities, etc. Mostly in these days, because of the pandemic, these kinds of systems help us to keep up with education without going to school. There are two tools that I want to introduce you today.
-Blackboard
We can say that Blackboard is actually an online
classroom. It is a part of LMS. So that, teacher can assign the students,
control their improvements, upload some documents about the lessons, test the
students, make announcements about any kind of changing or about some news, contact
with the students, and students can collaborate, discuss with each other
online.
This is a great way to continue the
education in some exclusive situations such as this pandemic. Besides the
website, there is an app for mobile phones and tablets. So, you can access to
your lesson even if you are not home or in a specific place.
-Moodle
Moodle almost has the same features with Blackboard. It is also a part of LMS and the most used online learning system. It is customizable and flexible. This is probably why many companies, schools and universities prefer Moodle. It includes gamification, online learning, competency-based education, interactive classroom, etc. It’s easy to use, so people of all ages can use without any doubt. Also, the good side of the website is that it is free! There are more than 120 languages that Moodle has translated into which means it is worldwide.
To sum up, I can say that these tools are
both very useful for teachers. As a future teacher, even if there is no pandemic,
I still can use one of them for my classes because continuing the education on
different platforms might be so helpful for easily distracted students. They
can keep up with lessons more.
